We tested the Breville BJE 200XL Home Juicer, which came complete with a 700-watt motor and a custom design made for counter-tops. The juicer is pleasantly compact, and easily fits within most dishwashers for easy cleaning. Within a week of using the juicer, it became a regular part of our family’s eating routines: we now use the Breville for fresh orange juice in the mornings and apple juice for snacks, making it a mainstay in our kitchen today.
The company also make a 900-watt machine, as well as more powerful models, although the 700-watt model is perfectly suited for home use. Based on our use, the Breville is well suited for both fruit and vegetable juicing – we even added some roots (such as ginger) to give the smoothies more flavor, without a problem. The powerful 14,000 RPM motor handled pretty much anything we tried to juice (including kiwi and carrots.) Not only is the juicer powerful, but it is also pretty quick and effective, allowing you to juice 1 ½ quarts in just a few minutes.
Other juices we tried, including many that you’ve likely seen on infomercials, frankly don’t match up: Brevilles might be a bit more expensive but they pay for themselves with improved quality that makes juices even better than your local smoothie or produce store. I worried that it may be too loud, but it’s actually relatively quiet and the 1-year complete warranty provides assurance that the product will be in our kitchen for years to come. With an included cleaning brush and dishwasher-safe removable parts, it’s easy to clean and maintain the juicer, to keep it in great shape. If you’re like my family, you’ll get plenty of use out of it, so running it through the dishwasher is a real time saver!
